Exectutive producer Kyle Stratton Crace participated in the Q & A after the screening along with associate producers Lisa Bragg and Curtis Baskerville. Thanks to Steve Fesenmaier who published a cool review in the Gazette Mail and hooked up an interview with Bill Lynch who interviewed Director Rory Owen Delaney in Los Angeles.

Associate producers Curtis Baskerville and Lisa Bragg along with assistant Regina Perry made and passed out over 1000 flyers to the WVSU campus complex as well as to communities in Saint Albans, Dunbar, Hurricane, Institute, Charleston, South Charleston, and Cross Lanes.

Lisa also met with Dr. Vicki Wolf as well as members of SEAC to coordinate participation at the premiere. Lisa was also in close contact with Theatre Supervisor Dick Wolfe, Secretary Mary Wickiser, and Paula Clendenin to discuss event plans. Maya Nye from the environmental citizens group People Concerned About MIC sent emails and made phone calls to organizations, departments, and people about the event. On Friday, April 30th, Curtis Baskerville and Lisa Bragg gave a half hour interview on 98.7 the Beat in Charleston, West Virginia. 98.7 also provided us with free commercial spots Saturday night, so big shout-out to the folks over at the Beat!

Pam Nixon from "Toxic Soup" & "Chemical Valley"

Professor Paula Clendenin kindly gave us permission to use the Della Brown Art Gallery for the “Toxic Soup” reception. We were able to conduct interviews and take pictures in the gallery. People had a lot of interesting things to say about “Toxic Soup” as well as the student artwork on display. The artwork was provided by Duanne Channer and Scott McBride, courtesy of the WVSU Spring 2010 Senior Art Exhibit.

Associate producer / Good Old Boy Chad Meador came up from Beckley, WV to promote the documentary. Chad also filmed audience reactions throughout, so look out for that footage soon. Thanks Chad. Scott McBride also helped us out with video and photography, and he sold some of his art — rock on, Scott!

The reception following the screening was fantastic. Diana Asbury, mother of Regina Perry an alumni member, provided the catering and scored some future jobs as a result. She even made “Toxic Soup” cupcakes — got to love the creativity. Environmental attorney Kevin Thompson who is featured in two of the documentary’s cases also made an appearance and did interviews. Associate producer Curtis Baskerville paid for the catering and videographaphy; much love to Mr. Baskerville.

Regina Perry created programs, decorative “Toxic Soup” bags, bookmarks, stamps for the “Toxic Soup” movie cards and signs for the event. Theatre supervisor Dick Wolfe and his crew really put in extra work to make the event run smoothly. His crew members helped clean up the theatre/gallery areas and carried equipment to our cars. Members of SEAC were also extremely helpful during and after the event.

Last but not least, the Women in Communications and the Communications Department advertised our screening on their poster, program, website, and in the “Yellow Jacket” campus newspaper. They also paid to have a portion of our “Toxic Soup” programs, flyers and posters printed. The WVSU Art Department allowed us to print our invitations and mailed them for us. We are very grateful for their help; thanks again for your support.
